Surviving the heat

This week we will have temperatures locally into the 40’s. Whilst we all love the sun and a bit of heat, trying to manage very high temperatures needs a bit of planning.

So, first thing in the morning open all windows and doors to air the house and get some coolness in, then before 11am close them up again. Shutting the shutters help insulate the house from heat during the day.

Carry a bottle of water with you and stay out of the sun in the hottest part of the day (from 12 noon till 4pm). A sun hat will protect your scalp from burning. Avoid alcohol as it doesn’t hydrate you and avoid sitting in the sun during the hottest part of the day.
