I’m a bit fanatical about the Romans and although the Dordogne Valley is reknowned for its prehistory, there are also lots of evidence of the Romans if you dig a little. So this little Roman bridge was built by Agricola’s soldiers over the River Beune near Meyrals, and there are many places where you can walk on actual Roman roads. Just ask me! Whilst you are walking along you will see red squirrels, deer, buzzards, kites and perhaps even a short toed eagle pair who live in Meyrals itself!
