European Heritage Days – Chateau Monsec

Chateau Monsec

This privately owned chateau is normally closed to the public, but courtesy of the Toucheboeuf family it was open today for visits to the grounds.  I was shown round by the son of the family and was delighted with the setting, the architecture and the history (and they are a remarkable family).

Just a 10 minute journey from Meyrals, the chateau overlooks the Dordogne river near Mouzens, and I enjoyed a stroll around the garden, visited the chapel and tombs and loved hearing the history of this remarkable family.

European Heritage Days in France can be found at  should you wish to visit this beautiful culture rich area next September.
